Notre Dame Fighting Irish VS Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: Football Betting Lines

That’s six games in a row as double-digit favorites

IT’S A TRAP...game.

Well, that might be a bit of hyperbole, but the sentiment is the same. I think the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have too much talent for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and I believe Brian Kelly when he mentions that there is already preparation for Clemson happening. Regardless, ND and GT are playing on Saturday afternoon. Georgia Tech is 2-4 this season while having only one win in ACC play (against FSU). Playing an objectively inferior opponent again might spark some of what we saw on Saturday. After the Irish whooped on Pittsburgh, there is some confidence back with the team. We see that with the betting lines this week, too.

ND vs GT Betting Lines

This week, the Irish are back to being 20+ point favorites in their upcoming game. As of now, the Irish sit at -20.5 against GT. Considering they demolished Pitt while definitely covering the spread, Vegas put more faith in the Irish to dominate a team that is worse than the Irish in the ACC standings and in overall record.

Additionally, the total for the game is set at 56.5. More money is being put on the OVER to hit, as you can see by the weaker odds for the total to be 57 or more points instead of 56 or fewer points. According to Oddsshark, it is more likely for the Irish to cover than spread than Georgia Tech is. GT has also been a part of the OVER hitting in 5 of their last 5 home games.

Matty G’s Predictions

Georgia Tech has generally put up some points in their games - scoring below 20 points only twice in 6 games. However, they are about to run into the Notre Dame defense which has been dominating opposing offenses this season. The Yellow Jackets have also been giving up a lot of points, too. Therefore, I could see this game being somewhere in the 42-14 range. That gives the Irish more than enough to cover the big spread, but I can see the UNDER just barely hitting here considering the lack of points the Irish defense has given up this season overall.

As far as the weekly DAMHSA BUA count goes, I am thinking that 5.5 could be a sticking point. Let’s see if people choose 6 or more TDs that the Irish will score, or will there be even 5 or 4 TDs scored. I’m going with OVER on the DAMHSA BUA count here, but just barely. I think we could see 6 TDs scored again like we did last week against Pitt. What do you think, though? Let us know in the weekly poll but also any of your thoughts on the lines in the comments.
