Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly got in front of the media on Monday to discuss the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Panthers, and in the press conference he stated that running back Jahmir Smith is no longer with the program.
Running back Jahmir Smith has left the Notre Dame football program, Brian Kelly announces.

Kelly didn’t add much to that statement, but did say he still needs to talk to Jahmir Smith about his future. Perhaps Smith has decided to opt out of the season because of COVID, or maybe he wants to look elsewhere for more playing time.
In Notre Dame’s last game against the Louisville Cardinals, Kyren Williams and Chris Tyree were the only running backs that were given carries in the game.
Smith has only played in one game this year and had 15 yards on 5 carries.
