HOLY SMOKES!

NCAA Basketball: Notre Dame at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Syracuse Orange played one of the best basketball games of the season inside a raucous Carrier Dome. It was a shooter’s duel on Saturday, and for as much as both teams have struggled this year, they put on an absolute show.

The biggest storyline here will be the back and forth three point shooting between the two ACC teams, but it was Notre Dame’s ability to rebound just a little better on the offensive side for second chance points that really made the difference.

John Mooney led all scorers with 28 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for another double double. Prentiss Hubb knocked in 6 three pointers in a 22 point effort that also saw him dish out 9 assists. T.J. Gibbs was equally effective with 6 three’s of his own (6-8) as part of his 21 point day.

It was an incredible game that Notre Dame desperately needed to start its main slate of ACC games.

Here are the game highlights and postgame interviews with Mike Brey and Jim Boeheim:
