The Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball lost two close basketball games this past week, which is likely why fan confidence dipped in a SB Nation FanPulse poll conducted Tuesday.

Forty-three percent of self-identified Irish fans said they are confident that Mike Brey is taking his team in the right direction, down eight percent from a poll conducted prior to the Irish’s 84-82 loss to the Syracuse Orange and their 85-84 loss to the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles.

The Irish are now 11-6 overall, 2-6 in the ACC and 5-5 in their last 10. The team hosts the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (9-10, 2-7 ACC) at 7 tonight at Purcell Pavillion. ACC Network is airing the game.
If there is hope for optimism, it may be that back half of Notre Dame’s ACC schedule is fairly soft with eight games against teams currently eighth or worse in the conference.
The Irish also lead the country in fewest fouls committed per game (12.3) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.71), and are led by senior John Mooney and his nation-best combination of points per game (15.7) and rebounds (13.4). Notre Dame also ranks third nationally in fewest turnovers per game (9.9).
All survey respondents were also asked:

I picked the Michigan Wolverines (LOL). but they finished behind “Other” (5.5 percent) and ahead of the UCLA Bruins (4.4 percent) and Memphis Tigers (3 percent).
