Sigh.

Kmet to the NFL

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will lose Cole Kmet to the NFL draft, per his twitter account this afternoon.

This was highly speculated after he had not made and definite statements after claiming to be returning to play baseball in the Spring a couple of months back. Kmet has been rated by multiple analysts as TE1 in this years draft class, and received a second round grade. After a slower start to his career, Kmet finished the 2019 season with 43 receptions, 515 yards, and 6 touchdowns. All of this despite missing the first two games to a broken collarbone.

Though all of Irish nation is sad to see Kmet leave with his massive upside heading into 2020, the recruiting and development has been great for Tight End U. Notre Dame’s leading returning tight end will be Tommy Tremble (16 rec, 183 yards, 4tds) along with Brock Wright and George Takacs. All 3 of those could be factors next year along with a pair of 4 stars from the 2020 class in Michael Mayer and Kevin Bauman. Mayer has received some incredibly (well deserved) hyped and could be a day one contributor. We wish Kmet well, our sweet Herculean prince.
