The Notre Dame Fighting Irish headed to Columbus Saturday to take on the Ohio State University Buckeyes. The Irish had it 3-0 at one point but the Buckeyes snuck in during the third period to shake things up. These two teams took it to overtime, but it was Notre Dame that ended this exciting one.
First Period
Notre Dame fans have gotten used to seeing shaky first periods, but it was the irish who set the tone this time around. A goal from Alex Steeves put Notre Dame on the board early in the period. The Buckeyes eventually outshot the Irish 6-8 in the period but could not manage to respond with a goal.

Second Period
Steeves wasn’t finished yet. The Irish forward chalked up a power play goal for his team after tOSU’s Matt Miller headed to the penalty box. Ohio State’s Quinn Preston nearly claimed his team’s first goal of the game. However officials overturned the goal for a Buckeye being in the crease. Notre Dame’s Colin Theisen later found the back of the net to bring it to 3-0 Fighting Irish.

Not even three minutes later, however, Notre Dame’s Graham Slaggert scored to grab a fourth goal for his team. The Buckeyes reacted by pulling goaltender Ryan Snowden. On an Irish penalty, Ohio State’s Quinn Preston gave the Buckeyes their third goal to make it a one goal game.
