Notre Dame Football: His name is Tommy, and here’s the shirt

Do we call him Tom, or do we call him Tommy? The debate about the proper name for the new offensive coordinator for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish has been going on since his return to South Bend as a graduate assistant a few years ago. Brian Kelly has seemed hell bent on his protege’ being called, “Tom” but at every turn — Tommy has said, “Tommy.”

This all ended abruptly and with much joy on Wednesday night when Coach Rees took to twitter to simply tweet out, “Tommy.” It was the mike drop that most never get — and it was beautiful.
