Following Saturday’s victory against the Virginia Cavaliers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish jumped a spot to #9 in the AP Top 25 but stayed put at #10 in the Coaches Poll. The Cavaliers fell out of the top 20 after the game.
Here are both polls headed into week 6:
The Clemson Tigers barely survived against the North Carolina Tar Heels, which brought them down to #2 and allowed Alabama to rise to #1 in both rankings. The Ohio State Buckeyes also rose a spot in both sets of rankings.
Notre Dame’s rise to #9 in the AP Poll meant that the Florida Gators dropped to #10 after a win over a lackluster Towson team.
In terms of future Notre Dame opponents, we saw USC fall out of the top 25 after their loss to Washington. Michigan rises slightly after a 52-0 win against Rutgers.
The Irish next face the Bowling Green State Falcons on October 5th.
