The 10th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 12 12 point favorites to beat the 18th ranked Virginia Cavaliers, according to oddsmakers.

The over/under — or “the predicted number of points oddsmakers believe will be scored in the game by both teams combined” — is 48 12 points. That, combined with the line, suggests a 31-18 Irish victory.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a much closer game, with the Irish squeaking out a 32-29 victory in Notre Dame Stadium. If that were the result, bettors holding slips for Notre Dame on the moneyline, on Virginia to cover and the total to go over would cash.

If you are considering betting this game, here are some trends from OddsShark to consider:

  • The Irish have covered three straight games as a double-digit home favorite.
  • Virginia is 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 September games, but Notre Dame is 4-1 against the spread in their last five September games.
  • Notre Dame is 10-4 against the spread after a “win” against the spread. (They covered a 16 point spread in a loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.)
  • The total has gone under in five of Notre Dame’s last six games and under in four of the Irish’s last five Saturday games.

Here are all the kickoff times, dates, TV/streaming options and spreads for Notre Dame’s opponents playing this weekend. All times are Eastern.

CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

Notre Dame’s path to the College Football Playoff may have gotten significantly trickier by losing to the Georgia Bulldogs, a potential playoff participant.

Oddsmakers at the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas has responded accordingly, making the Irish a bigger longshot to win the national championship. They are now at 200-to-1 odds, a far cry from the 25-to-1 odds posted a week after the playoff loss to the Clemson Tigers.
