We are ready for round two for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the 2019 college football season. It’s the home opener for the Irish as they host the Mountain West’s New Mexico Lobos. Unfortunately, Bob Davie won’t be making the trip due to a recent issue with his health. The thought of Davie returning was an interesting novelty, and I really am disappointed that his health has forced him to stay home.
For the Irish, however, this week is a chance to clean up its own messes — and to add some experience for the younger players in the ranks. That is, of course, if they are able to do the opposite of what they did last year against Ball State.
This week is all about handling your cupcake business. If the Irish can do just that, there is at least a lot more momentum and confidence (for them) heading into next week’s game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
