The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 35 point favorites in their home opener Saturday against the New Mexico Lobos, according to oddsmakers.
The over/under — or “the predicted number of points oddsmakers believe will be scored in the game by both teams combined” — is 51 points. That suggests a 43-8 Irish victory.
As lopsided as that sounds, the OddsShark computer predicts an even more one-sided score. If the Irish prevail 47-9 — quite the odd score — betters holding slips for Notre Dame on the moneyline, to cover and the over would cash.
Notre Dame has never been a 35 point favorite — or at least they haven’t since 1990, which is far back as the database goes. Oddsmakers offered 34 points to Ball State Cardinals backers last year, and the Cardinals easily covered in a 24-16 Irish victory.
If you’re going to bet this game, here are some trends from OddsShark:
- New Mexico is 1-7 against the spread in its last eight games, but 4-0 against the spread in its last four road games.
- The total has gone over in 10 of the Lobos’ last 15 games, and five out of their last six road games. But the total has gone under in four of the Irish’s last five games.
- Notre Dame is 0-3 against the spread when favored by more than 30 points since 2005.
Here are all the kickoff times, dates, TV/streaming options and spreads for Notre Dame’s opponents playing this weekend. All times are Eastern.

HEISMAN ODDS
Joe Burrow, the Ohio State Buckeyes transfer, led the LSU Tigers to a 45-38 victory over the No. 9 Texas Longhorns and saw his Heisman odds jump dramatically. Burrow’s 31-for-39, 471 yard performance helped his odds improve from 200-to-1 to 5-to-1 at Westgate Superbook Las Vegas.
Burrow now has the second best odds behind the Alabama Crimson Tide’s Tua Tagovailoa and the same odds as two other quarterbacks: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson Tigers) and Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma Sooners).
Here are the Heisman odds for Irish quarterback Ian Book and all of Notre Dame’s future opponents:
