The Oakland Raiders have scooped up former Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback DeShone Kizer from the waiver wire, while the Jacksonville Jaguars cut Ben Koyack after claiming two tight ends off the wire.
Kizer, who lead the Irish during the 2015 and 2016 seasons, was cut Saturday by the Green Bay Packers. It’s assumed — although not yet made official — that either Mike Glennon or Nathan Peterman will be cut to accommodate Kizer. The Raiders’ starting quarterback is Derek Carr, who signed a five-year, $125 million contract in 2017.
Meanwhile, Koyack will be looking for a new NFL team.
The Jaguars picked up Seth DeValve, most recently of the Cleveland Browns and Matt Orzech, who was cut Saturday by the Baltimore Ravens. The organization drafted Koyack in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
JETS SIGN JACKSON, ADD ADAMS TO PRACTICE SQUAD
A string of bad luck injuries have prevented former Irish defensive back Bennett Jackson from playing in a NFL game. The New York Jets claimed the Raritan, N.J. product off waivers Sunday, one day after he was let go by the Ravens. He will be reunited with Matthias Farley, his Irish teammate in the defensive backfield in 2012 and 2013. (The two also both share the distinction of having played wide receiver their freshman years.)
Nice Bennett Jackson is on a 53-man roster for the first time in his career. And to nobody's surprise, Jets grab two former Ravens. https://t.co/VrpkJw4ChN

Josh Adams, the Philadelphia Eagles’ leading rusher last year, was added Sunday to the Jets’ practice squad. Adams had offseason shoulder surgery, and returned to Notre Dame in the spring to continue progressing toward his degree.
Former Eagles RB Josh Adams is signing to Jets the practice squad, per source. Philly’s leading rusher last season reunites with GM Joe Douglass in New York.

HIESTAND GETS FORMER IRISH LINEMAN ON PRACTICE SQUAD
Guard Alex Bars and center Sam Mustipher cleared waivers and were added to the Chicago Bears’ practice squad, one day after the Windy City club cut them from the main roster.
Harry Hiestand, who coached Bars and Mustipher at Notre Dame in 2016 and 2017, has been the Bears’ offensive line coach since January 2018.
RETURN OF THE MACK
Tight end Alize Mack has been placed on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad, one day after the organization cut their seventh-round draft pick.

PANTHERS PICK LUKE
Cole Luke has rejoined the Carolina Panthers, this time as part of their practice squad. It’s a familiar spot for the Chandler, Ariz. native — Luke was on the Panthers’ reserve team during the 2018 season as well.

S Quin Blanding
G Rishard Cook
DE Bryan Cox, Jr.
TE Temarrick Hemingway
DT Bijhon Jackson

Two open spots. Assume one of those is for Holyfield, if he clears waivers.
Seventeen former Notre Dame players were cut Friday and Saturday as NFL teams reduced their rosters from 90 to 53. Those still looking for work are: Jonathan Bonner, Te’Von Coney, Michael Floyd, Jalen Guyton, Jarron Jones, TJ Jones, Greer Martini, Tyler Newsome, KeiVarae Russell and Sam Young.
We will update this post as more news is announced today.
