The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 20 point favorites in their game against the Louisville Cardinals Monday at Cardinal Stadium, according to oddsmakers.

The over/under — or “the predicted number of points oddsmakers believe will be scored in the game by both teams combined” — is 54 12 points. That suggests a 37-18 Irish victory.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a far more lopsided game, with the Irish prevailing 48-7. If that were the final, bettors holding slips for the Irish on the moneyline and against the spread would cash, as would the over.

If you are considering betting this game, here are some trends from OddsShark to consider:

  • Notre Dame is 4-1 against the spread in its last five games played in Week 1.
  • The total has gone over in four of Notre Dame’s last five games on the road and its gone over in seven of Louisville’s last eight games.
  • Louisville is 0-7 against the spread in its last seven games.
  • Louisville is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games played in week 1.

Here are the spreads for all of Notre Dame’s opponents for Week 1 games. All kickoff times are Eastern.

CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

Betters at the Westgate Superbook aren’t high on many teams, and the Irish are no exception.

One week after their 30-3 loss to the Clemson Tigers, the Superbook posted 25-to-1 odds for Notre Dame to take it all the way in 2019.

A bettor could now get 40-to-1 odds for the Irish to win the championship at Westgate.

Bettors are more optimistic than they were Jan. 7 on nine teams: Clemson (now 5-to-2), Georgia Bulldogs (6-to-1), Oklahoma Sooners (14-to-1), LSU Tigers (25-to-1), Utah Utes (40-to-1), Michigan State Spartans (100-to-1), Washington State Cougars (100-to-1), Minnesota Golden Gophers (500-to-1) and the San Diego State Aztecs (1000-to-1). Sixty-six other teams have had their odds either stay the same or drop.

HEISMAN ODDS

There’s really only two people that both the Westgate Superbook and its bettors think are going to be hoisting the Heisman at the PlayStation Theater in December: Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence and the Alabama Crimson Tide’s Tua Tagovailoa.

Both are given 3-to-1 odds to win college football’s top prize and the top 10 is littered with quarterbacks — from the Nebraska CornhuskersAdrian Martinez (10-to-1) to the Michigan WolverinesShea Patterson (20-to-1).

Here are the odds for Notre Dame’s Ian Book and the Irish’s 2019 opponents.
