Welcome to the first Bagpipe Monday of the 2019 y’all — WE THERE! The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are just a week away from taking on the Louisville Cardinals on the road, and we are all eager AF to get this thing going.
Of course, none of this is normal. Starting the season on Labor Day really knocks the schedule around. Planning around it reminds me a lot about when Notre Dame had their first night game in like 20 years against the USC Trojans in 2011. There was some comedy involved as we wandered around the tailgates and people were trying to figure out what they would (or should) be doing if the game was 4 hours earlier.
That’s kind of what’s going on here at OFD — a lot of drunk writers stumbling around looking at the calendar and wondering when we should publish a certain story. Thank Odin this piece has a day of the week attached to it, or you might actually have to hear Bagpipes on a Wednesday morning. Can you even imagine the horror or the chaos involved with all of that?
Now that I got that off of my chest...
Here’s your last chance to shout out your Notre Dame predictions for 2019.

Please back your vote up in the comment section below. I’ve gone on record several times that I think the Irish go 11-1 this season, and will make the college football playoff. Obviously a playoff scenario with a loss is dependent upon a great deal of variables — but 11-1 would have made it in 2015 and 2017 (2015 would have required NOT playing like shit against BC too).
Enjoy the pipes! (These are the traditional pipes to kick off a season and Celtic Metal bands from Argentina are pretty dope).
