Nate Norman’s Notre Dame women’s soccer team couldn’t ask for a much better start to the 2019 campaign. The Irish opened the season on Thursday (August 22nd) at home against St. Louis where they won 1-0. Then on Sunday (August 25th), the offensive floodgates opened in a 4-0 win over Northwestern. Talk about a productive first week back at school!
It took a penalty kick from Sammi Fisher to get the victory against St. Louis. Both defenses were strong all game, as evidenced by the low score and the fact that St. Louis totaled just four shots on goal in the game.
While the first half ended knotted up at 0-0, the goals started coming. Eva Hurm and Luisa Delgado each finished with a brace bring the score to 4-0. In short, it was one of the better offensive halves in the history of the program.
The Irish continue the season on Thursday, August 29th on the road at Western Michigan at 5 PM ET.
