The AP proves why they aren’t allowed to decide a champion with Notre Dame ranked #9

[Sings the Neverending Story song — pop punk version & reminds you to read the small print]

Mike Miller/One Foot Down

The AP released its preseason Top 25 for college football, and they have the Notre Dame Fighting Irish ranked inside the Top 10 at #9.

Now, I don’t want to come off as biased or anything — but this poll isn’t worth a donkey getting it on with an albino python.

Surely I thought the AP would show a little more sanity with their offering than the Amway Coaches Poll. Surely they would have the Irish ranked ahead of the Michigan Wolverines.

NOPE.

They have Michigan two spots better than the Irish at #7.

Now, I realize the AP walked away from the BCS because of computers, but it’s poor judgement like this that has me fist-pumping for joy that it’s the college football playoff committee and not the AP that is making the major decisions about the title now. After all, this is the same organization that allowed a big number of ballots to be turned in before the title game between the Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide — to final poll that had the Irish at #5 instead of its rightful place of #3.

Just saying... this poll is a continuation of crap.

* I really don’t care about these things all that much, but I thought I’d have a wee bit of fun anyways.
