The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2019 season.

#35 Marist Liufau, LB

As Notre Dame coaching staff has sought new talent to bring the team into the new season, the Aloha State has been especially magnetic. The Fighting Irish have added another Hawaiian standout in linebacker Marist Liufau. The incoming freshman is notable for his defensive versatility; he has found success as safety, cornerback, linebacker and defensive end in his high school career. Liufau also stands out for a similarity to Manti Te’o; both graduated from Punahou High School in Honolulu. The linebacker finished his high school career by representing his team in the 2019 Polynesian Bowl in January.

The hair warranted a Bon Jovi track for Liufau.

2019 Outlook

His 6” 2’ 210 pound build may not make him the most impactful linebacker. However, he’s the jack-of-all-trades to strengthen the Irish defense as they bounce off a 12-0 regular season to aim for something more. Commitment to conditioning and strength training will be critical for Liufau,as the the former Punahou High School track athlete has the speed to help bring the Fighting Irish forward.
