The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2019 season.
#72 Robert Hainsey, Tackle
A native of Pittsburgh and a product of IMG Academy in Florida, Hainsey is a rising junior who has played in every single game since he got to campus. In 2018, Hainsey started every game at right tackle after backing up both tackles in 2017.
He seems to be fully recovered from a small injury suffered at the beginning of last season, so expect him to be even better in the coming season.
People outside of the offensive coaching staff don’t seem to bring Hainsey up too much when discussing the offense. For an offensive lineman, that’s a compliment. He’s so consistent that nobody is really worried about the quality of his work at this point.
Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, or Chicago
Hainsey’s number is 72. Here’s Chicago’s main single off their 1972 album “Chicago V”.
Hey Dog HEY!

Hainsey is big, hairy, har worker just like a St. Bernard.
2019 Outlook
Hainsey is a sure thing to be the starting right tackle again this year. There’s a possibility that he heads to the NFL after this year just based on his ability and the fact that he will be eligible, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, Irish fans will once again see a lot of him in the trenches this season.
