Time for another round of “This Guy Plays Notre Dame Football” here on OFD. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2019 season.
#21 Jalen Elliott, Safety
Here’s a guy Irish fans should be very familiar with by now. Elliott is a rising senior from Richmond, VA with 124 total tackles, four interceptions, 13 passes deflected, and a forced fumble to his name. All four of his picks and his forced fumble came in 2018. His two best games from last season were probably the Ball State game (where he had seven tackles and two interceptions) and the game against Syracuse in New York City where he had an interception and five tackles
He has started every game each of the last two seasons and has been big reason why the defense has improved so drastically since that unfortunate 2016 season.
Prior to Notre Dame, Elliott won two Virginia state championships at Richmond’s Lloyd C. Bird High School. He was a two-way player in his prep days as a defensive back as well as a quarterback. Rivals ranked him as a four-star prospect while 247 had him as a three star. Elliott is a marketing major in the Mendoza College of Business.

Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, or Chicago
In honor of Elliott’s strong game at Yankee Stadium last season, let’s go with Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York”.
Hey Dog, Hey
Elliott is a Bullmastiff, which is considered by some to be one of the most dependable breeds in the world.

2019 Outlook
Elliott will once again be a leader and huge part of Notre Dame’s defense in 2019. He may even be a team captain. He probably should be, anyway. After what will likely be another strong season, it’s likely he will be an early round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
What else is there to say about the senior?
