Notre Dame Football Recruiting: 3-Star Clarence Lewis Is Irish

Here comes New Jersey y’all...

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got another commitment for its fantastic 2020 recruiting class on Monday night when 3-Star Clarance Lewis made his verbal pledge public. Lewis is currently rated as a wide receiver on every recruiting service, but will most likely be reevaluated as a cornerback moving forward.

Lewis is the first defensive back to commit in this class — a class that many believe will eventually have 4-5 defensive backs come signing day.

Lewis has a ton of athleticism which shines a bit brighter than his 4.59 time in the 40 yard dash. We should take particular note of his size as some even have him listed at 6’1” and 185 which will help him be a physical player on the edge as well as add considerable length in coverage.

This is the 12th commitment for the Fighting Irish and just the first at defensive back AND the first from a state of a player already committed. The Irish are in official visit mode this June, and continue to push for some of the best in the country.
