And so begins another round of “This Guy Plays Notre Dame Football” here on OFD. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a roster full of players, and we want to talk about them all. One Foot Down’s player profile series will take a look at every single one of them, and hopefully we all learn a little bit more about these guys, and Notre Dame’s chances for the upcoming 2019 season.

#12 D.J. Brown, DB

DJ comes to us from St. John’s College High School in Annapolis, MD. He is currently a sophomore academically with all of his eligibility left. He only played in one game last season (@ Wake Forest), so he is able still to have a red shirt. He is listed as a safety to backup Jalen Elliot and Alohi Gilman. With those two juggernauts ahead of him, DJ might have a tough time finding a starting role. However, he’ll look to contribute in the secondary.

It’s still the beginning of DJ’s career with the Irish

DJ has a pretty infectious smile, and so does this Basset Hound

See, it fits pretty well.

2019 Outlook

Again, it will be tough for DJ to look for a starting role with Alohi and Jalen ahead of him on the roster. However, he could use his time to support the position at safety while also learning the true ropes. His extra year with the team without losing playing time can help in the long run for developing the safety position. Once the two guys leave, the position will need to be filled well. DJ Brown could be the guy to do just that later on in his career.

We have to dip back into the freshmen hype — but Brown is only a sophomore in 2019, so it’s all good.
