Bagpipe Monday: Who will Notre Dame miss the most in 2019?

The weekly poll and pipes is throwing water and dressing like a bear.

Welcome to a very DYNGUS DAY Bagpipe Monday on One Foot Down! Friends, I took a step back this Easter Weekend and most of Monday to enjoy the holiday season (and wife’s birthday) with my family and friends, but because I am as big of a freak as many of you... I kept having thoughts about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football program creep into my head.

Bagpipe Monday Notre Dame @phillykelly

The NFL Draft starts on Thursday this week, and with that, we get a bit of closure when it comes to our departing Notre Dame football players. The general consensus is that Jerry Tillery will be a 1st or 2nd round pick, and Julian Love should go by the 3rd round — maybe the 4th. After those two, it’s kind of a guessing game when it comes where they will be drafted.

To be honest, the draft order won’t really tell the story in order of what Irish fans may perceive to be the biggest losses for Notre Dame moving forward. The NFL is a different game than college, so there’s nothing wrong with that line of thinking. We just finished up spring football, and even though that didn’t give us the full picture for fall — it did enough to show what Notre Dame is missing.

So who will the Irish miss the most in 2019? I have a decent guess as to who will get the most votes in this poll, but I’m still curious enough to ask. It’s not like I haven’t been completely wrong about the general opinion of the fanbase before.

My vote goes to Drue Tranquill for two reasons:

  1. Leadership
  2. Light years better than anything we have coming back at LB (any LB spot) in 2019.

So, make a vote and sound off.

The “pipes” this week pays homage to Dyngus Day... today. Enjoy!
