Jones is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and went to high school at Pulaski Academy. Pulaski won four consecutive Arkansas 5A State Championships in Jones’ time there.
The 6’5”, 303-pound lineman originally committed to Arkansas but switched his commitment to the Irish last year, presumably because of the firing of Brett Bielema.
Jones did not appear in a game for the Irish last year. He was a member of the 2018 signing class after being named to 2017 USA Today American Family Insurance All-USA Arkansas Football Team his senior year of high school. He was also a top five recruit in the state of Arkansas according to 247, Rivals, and ESPN.
As things stand right now, Jones will have to sit out the 2019 season unless he’s somehow granted immediate eligibility. That seems unlikely to happen though as there do not appear to be any extenuating circumstances.
