Cornerback Noah Boykin is seeking a transfer and has put his name in the transfer portal. Boykin was a major National Signing Day win for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in February of 2018 and chose the Irish over the perceived favorite, the Virginia Cavaliers.
The Irish needed a handful of cornerbacks in that cycle, and signed four of them. Boykin was the seconds highest rated cornerback, but it was TaRiq Bracy that saw time as a freshman while Boykin took a planned redshirt for 2018. D.J. Brown, another cornerback in the class was moved to safety this spring. The top rated corner from the Notre Dame class, Houston Griffith, has seemingly won the boundary corner position this spring — which is the same position that Boykin plays.

There is no word yet on where Boykin may be looking to transfer to, but the Washington D.C. native could try to stay on the east coast (or maybe head to the state of Florida like every other Notre Dame transfer has done recently).
Boykin’s departure drops the Notre Dame scholarship total to 84 for 2019 right now. That spot will most likely be filled by Marist Luafau or J.D. Bertrand as the former was looking at a gray shirt year, while the latter took a preferred walk-on position for 2019. The other notable member of the 2019 class without a scholarship is lacrosse-bro-named kicker Harrison Leonard.
