The Notre Dame Fighting Irish just wrapped up their spring practice season with the annual Blue-Gold game on Saturday, and it was equal parts “stufff we knew” and “this isn’t really football.”
It’s just the nature of the beast — and that’s okay. We learn what we can learn, but we should also remember to just take it for what it’s worth... just another spring practice day.
Jude and Brad were unable to join me on the podcast this week, so we brought back Greg Flammang from UHND.com to put a bow on spring football.
- Ian Book and what he sees on the field.
- The bad look from the “touch” rules and red jerseys.
- Alohi Gilman and Jalen Elliott are captains... announce it.
- Just about every aspect of the linebacker situation involving Shayne Simon, Asmar Bilal, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, and Bo Bauer.
- Questioning the amount of Jack Kiser mentions.
- How ridiculously important Khalid Kareem, Julian Okwara, and well... that whole DE depth chart is to this team.
- Our LOVE of the starting WR’s in Chase Claypool, Chris Finke, and Michael Young.
- Cole Kmet should be a bigger piece if Book can see him.
And plenty more. We dove deep, and we had to cut some things a bit short or else this would be Dan Carlin like in stature.
It was... two guys fighting off helicopters. Enjoy.
