Despite my (and others) complaints that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish didn’t do enough in the vertical passing game on Saturday, they still had quite a few nice plays. The video crew did Chase Claypool dirty by not including his long reception.
The best play of the day, in my opinion, was from Safety Jalen Elliott — future Captain. Elliott chased Ian book down in the backfield, but Book was just able to get the pass off to Jafar Armstrong. Being the ultimate hustle player that he is, Jalen chased Jafar down and forced the fumble with a swat. The ball was recovered by Troy Pride Jr. to complete the only turnover of the day.
There is even a Jonathan Doerer highlight! Although he did hit the pole on his final field goal attempt, he looked good with his other kicks. With the departure of Justin Yoon, I can’t express enough of why this is so important. Yay him!
