There wasn’t a whole lot to cheer for this past season for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team. One big theme moving forward, however, is the youth of this team. Could that talent be even younger for the 2019-2020 season?
5-Star guard, Cole Anthony, is the fourth ranked player in the nation according to 247 Sports — and he just put the Irish in his top four on Sunday Night. It was a “cut list” and the Irish made the cut along with the Georgetown Hoyas, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Oregon Ducks.

Cole is the son of former UNLV and New York Knicks star, Greg Anthony. It’s widely believed that North Carolina is the clear leader for Cole, the fact that his father was a famous athlete may work in favor for a school like Notre Dame where we have seen other famous athletes (and of course Bon Jovi) send their kids to school. There is a greater appreciation for what Notre Dame can do for them later down the road.
Just my two cents.
It probably is unlikely that Mike Brey can land the Oak Hill star, but it would be a HUGE lift in confidence for the future of Irish basketball if he does. Fans would love for Brey to better his recruiting game — despite having the highest rated freshmen class of the Brey era just this last year.
We can always get better.
