This is playoff hockey y’all! The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will advance in the NCAA Tournament after its 3-2 OT win over the Clarkson Golden Knights in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The Irish fell behind 1-0 in the 1st period, and stayed one goal down after two periods after they and Clarkson traded goals. It was looking a little bleak as Jeff Jackson pulled Cale Morris with about two and a half minutes to play in the third — and then Cal Burke sent the puck over to Bobby Nardella and he put one in the net to tie it up.
Notre Dame went into OT and basically just wore Clarkson out. It was a physical game, and that can usually mean mental mistakes — but the Irish remained sharp until Cal Morrison scored the game winner.
HE DID IT AGAIN!
The Irish will take on the UMass Minutemen at 6:30 on Saturday. It will be televised on ESPN with John Buccigross and Barry Melrose (known Notre Dame hater) on the call. Notre Dame’s march toward the Frozen Four continues...
Here are the highlights from that OT thriller!
