The Notre Dame Fighting Irish may have had a disappointing night on the ice with a 3-2 loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions, but their situation inside the conference didn’t change at all.
The Irish finished #2 in the Big Ten conference behind the Ohio State Buckeyes. Notre Dame’s Friday night win over PSU meant the Irish will start the Big 10 Tournament with home ice.
The pairings are now set for the conference:

The Irish will face the Michigan State Spartans inside Compton Ice Arena next weekend. The best of 3 series starts on Friday, March 8, with game 2 on Saturday. If needed, the third and final game will be on Sunday.
Sparty finished last in the conference, but ranked #27 in Pairwise. Perhaps Notre Dame should bring the Megaphone Trophy over to Compton — you know... for that extra spice.
NCAA WATCH
The Irish are currently ranked #15 in Pairwise, but with all the conference tournaments going on, there could be quite a bit of fluctuation. The road to the Frozen Four was never going to be easy, but it looks harder each day.
