By now, you have already heard about the ridiculous day Miles Boykin had at the NFL Combine on Saturday. Not even the most hardcore and loyal fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish would have dropped these numbers on you:
- 43 1⁄2 inch vertical
- 11’8” broad jump
- 6.77 3 cone
- 4.07 shuttle
- And oh yeah... a 4.42 40 yard dash
.@NDFootball WR @MBoykin814 just jumped 43.5" in the vertical! #NFLCombine pic.twitter.com/FApROwQdCg

Miles Boykin just murdered the combine, and in one day of workouts, everyone is pretty much in agreement that the 6’4” 220 pound WR vaulted up the team boards for the NFL Draft.
Boykin’s teammates went bonkers after his second run:

As shocking as this is to a lot of you out there, Boykin had an extreme amount of confidence. Pete Sampson tweeted:
“Miles Boykin was privately telling anybody who would listen that he was going to kill it at the combine.
He was right.”
And there it is. Somehow, people never put Boykin in any type of “speed WR” category during his time at Notre Dame. In fact, it was more likely top hear someone say that Boykin could develop into a great TE rather than a fast WR. There were, however, a few reporters that called this for a while:
People have been killing me for seven months for reporting 4.47 on Boykin last August.

It’s funny and it’s sad. There have been countless Irish fans that have commented over the last couple of months that they were somewhat glad Boykin was leaving with a year of eligibility on the table — because you know... we need the speedy youngsters out on the field.
I think it’s fair to say that Notre Dame will most undoubtedly miss the services of a 6-4 WR that runs a sub 4.5 40 yard dash. It’s also fair to say that this really was a surprise to many people — fans, scouts, coaches, or whoever.
Miles Boykin believed he could do it, and now that he has the test results, game film, and good interviews in his back pocket; he will get PAID for that belief in himself.
Good show!
