Notre Dame Football: Brian Kelly is not marrying Mike and Will Linebackers

Or Uncle Buck for that matter.

NCAA Football: College Football Playoff Semifinal-Cotton Bowl-Notre Dame vs Clemson Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are back to work after a week long break from spring football. The players, like their fellow students, were on spring break and got a chance to unwind a bit before the next grind in South Bend.

With the return to practice comes the Brian Kelly pressers that probably get overanalyzed too much (especially in spring). Here’s the most basic, stripped down, and mileage recap:

  • Troy Pride Jr. does an excellent Brian Kelly impersonation. Spot on.
  • Jafar Armstrong, Tony Jones Jr. and Kyren Williams are the backs getting the most work. C’bo Flemister is coming back from an injury.
  • Kelly is impressed with punter Jay Bramblett — but it’s hard indoors.
  • Avery Davis has plenty of work to do at defensive back, but he’s progressing.
  • Kelly hopes Shaun Crawford can be 100%. There is a general media feeling that this may not be automatic if at all.
  • Still finding what linebackers can play and in what combos. Nothing is in stone.
  • Ian Book and Phil Jurkovec kept in shape during spring break and stayed out of trouble.
  • Jacob Lacey is getting a ton of reps. This freshman will be needed.
  • Chase Claypool and Chris Finke are the established receivers, and they are looking for the third. Brian Kelly mentioned quite a few names, but not the name of Kevin Austin.

You can watch the whole presser in the video below. Pro Day is tomorrow y’all. Tommy Rees will be slinging bullets to the players during the workout session. REESUS LIVES!
