The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are heading to the Big 10 Championship game for the second year in a row after beating the Minnesota Golden Gophers 2-1 in OT during the Big Ten tournament.
After the game, Irish coach, Jeff Jackson, sat down in front of the media for the postgame presser. Jackson said that they needed Cam Morrison to step up and that he delivered for the Irish on Saturday night.
Morrison scored the first goal of the night — but there was a review, which seemed to really bother Jackson.
“Video reviews are killing the game,” Jackson said with a strong tone of contempt in his voice.
Jackson is worried about reviews sucking the momentum out of the game, and it was a real concern tonight. He also raved about the large crowd and really praised the Irish band which was out in full force to charge up those in attendance inside Comptom Family Ice Arena.

Thank you for the special pre-game treat, @NDCoachJackson! There's nobody we'd rather be supporting than you and this team. ☘️ pic.twitter.com/10eU2C7Wko
It was a sweet win for the Irish, and took care of what has been a major thorn in their sides this year... the Gophers. Jackson said they were, “the hottest team in the country over the last month,” and that’s a fair statement. Hot or not, however, this loss ended the season for Minnesota.
The Irish are excited to advance to the Big Ten final, but the ultimate goal is still an NCAA Tournament run to the Frozen Four.
