Now that the preamble for spring football for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish is out of the way, I think we all have a better grasp on the possibilities this time of year brings. The opening press conferences and roster movement provides the outline for what we will see.
So... what are you most interested in this spring?
Is it the development of Phil Jurkovec? After all... you should probably know a little something about the name you’re yelling out in despair after the first mistake from Ian Book.
What about the running backs? The big shoes that Dexter Williams leaves behind won’t be filled with the same quick feet, but maybe a combination of Jafar Armstrong, Tony Jones Jr., and Kyren Williams will be enough to get the job done. (This will be the part you go on and on about WHERE ARE THE 5 STARS?!!!)
Maybe you’re interested in the wide receivers. You’re pumped about a “speed upgrade” over a guy that ran a 4.42 in the NFL Combine. Is Kevin Austin about to get the “traits” treatment. Can Chase Claypool continue to get better? Will Braden Lenzy do enough for you to fill out his hall of fame ballot because SPEED?
How does the defensive backfield look? Can Houston Griffith cement a place as the starter opposite of Troy Pride Jr.? Will Avery Davis be that “spring move story” for the second year in a row?
How is your gut? Will Jayson Ademilola continue to develop into a quality defensive tackle? Will the early enrollee, Jacob Lacy, prove that he belongs in the rotation? Are Myron Tagovailola-Amosa and Kurt Hinish enough of a force on the inside to help out our linebackers.
Oh yeah.. who in the hell is going to play linebacker? Will Asmar Bilal truely be the answer at BUCK or will young buck Jack Lamb move closer to that role? Can anyone ID the MIKE? Is the ROVER Shayne Simon’s to lose?
And on and on... there are a lot of questions — as there normally are during this time of year. So many, that a poll just can’t cover it properly. I want to know what YOU are most interested in this spring. For me, the linebacker situation stands out the most, but seeing how they replace Julian Love is a close second.
Give us a shout!
