Fighting Irish Football Recruiting: What Notre Dame fans can expect on National Signing Day

A smile on the face.

Prepare for a successfully quiet day for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday, February 6. National Signing Day has changed a lot over the last few years, and as we have mentioned so many times before, so has the plot.

There were some fun surprises for Notre Dame last year as Noah Boykin fooled just about everyone when he chose the Irish over the Virginia Cavaliers (well-played Noah). All-in-all though, things are pretty well in check since the early signing period takes care of so much of the workload.

Notre Dame has just one target left to sign on NSD, and that’s 4-Star defensive end Isaiah Foskey. The 6’4” 240 pound All-American from Concord California will make his commitment known on ESPNU in the 3 PM EST hour. Foskey is choosing between the Irish, California Golden Bears, Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Washington Huskies.

It’s been a fairly common belief that Foskey actually signed his NLI in December with the Irish, but wanted to wait until Signing Day in February to announce with his high school teammates.

I haven’t seen an exact schedule from Notre Dame about a Brian Kelly press conference for NSD. Usually, it goes on around noon, but with Foskey being the only major addition that we are expecting... I’m not sure how they can schedule a press conference before Foskey announces.

As far as OFD is concerned, we will have all sorts of coverage tomorrow on the site. Regardless of the lack of surprise (and really because 99% of the class is signed) we still will be celebrating the newest additions to the Notre Dame football program. This is Brian Kelly’s 10th recruiting class, so if you look at the day in the scope of a decade of Brian Kelly... I’m sure there’s plenty to talk about and plenty of opinions out there.

We’re here for everything.
