It’s President’s Day across this great country of ours — a time to celebrate the great leaders of our past. In keeping in the spirit of the day, we are going to take a little time talking about our own Mt. Rushmore.
The picture above is my own interpretation for Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, as I’m sure many of you will have your own. If you’re asking where Lou Holtz is in that depiction, then maybe you haven’t followed me long enough to understand the respect and veneration I have for Moose Krause.
Would you like some more Rushmore debate? Here are a few other top 4’s:
RUNNING BACK
- Ricky Watters
- Jerome Bettis
- Marc Edwards
- Reggie Brooks
QUARTERBACK
- Jimmy Clausen
- Rick Mirer
- Jarious Jackson
- Tony Rice
PERSONAL TOP 4
- Jeff Burris
- Ricky Watters
- Justin Tuck
- Quenton Nelson (recently replaced Jeff Faine)
And we could go on and on with the top 4’s — the monument possibilities are numerous.
What’s your Mount Rushmore? Do you have a standard, or will you shoot from the hip? Is it an obvious 4-pack, or do you have a tricky pick here and there?
It’s a government and banking holiday today, so take a moment and join in on the fun.
Bonus points for pics.
Editor’s Note: For those that are freaking out about “what about ______?” I’m 40 years old. If I didn’t personally see them play, then they’re not on my mountain. This is in contrast to the image above where all four were way before my time (just like the real Mt. Rushmore). GET ON THIS LEVEL.
