According to multiple reports, Notre Dame Fighting Irish linebacker Jonathan Jones will enter the transfer portal. Jones will use the graduate transfer rule to have immediate playing time at the school of his choice.

The 6’0” 226 pound senior from Florida rarely saw the field this year as a linebacker, but played on most special teams units. After the 2018 season, many expected Jones to contend for a bigger role with the linebacking group, but even after a large mish-mash developed in the spring, he wasn’t able to move up the depth chart during fall camp.
No schools have been announced as possible landing spots, but an early guess would be one of the FBS Group of Five schools in the state of Florida like the Central Florida Knights, South Florida Bulls, or Florida Atlantic Owls would at least be good options for Jones.
Good luck to Jonathan in his future endeavors, and he will leave South Bend with that all-important Notre Dame degree.
