The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey team was back in action Saturday night for the back end of their home-and-home series with the Bowling Green Falcons. Notre Dame managed to take the lead early, but just like Friday night the Bowling Green offense overwhelmed the Irish and the Falcons came away with the 5-2 win.
First Period
Notre Dame managed the first goal of the game, a power play goal just over a minute in. After cycling the puck for a bit, Nick Leivermann took a shot from the top of the zone that was deflected on goal by Cam Morrison. The deflection created a rebound that Mike O’Leary put in the back of the net. Bowling a Green managed a power play goal of their own 14 minutes in to tie the game and added a second 3 minutes later to take the lead after the first.

Second Period
Notre Dame opened the scoring again in the second, this time to tie the game. After exiting the defensive zone, Nick Leivermann sent a pass from one blue line to the other, sending Trevor Janicke in on a breakaway. From just inside the faceoff circle Janicke found an opening five-hole for the tying goal. Bowling Green answered the Irish with two more of their own and held a 4-2 lead after 2.
