The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are just hours away from the start of their final regular season game against the Stanford Cardinal. At 9-2 — yeah, yeah... we know what’s at stake. And yeah, the Orange Bowl is still a slight possibility. Regardless of the things happening around the college football world that can still affect the Irish, there is still a game to be played today.
Notre Dame has tallied three 30+ point wins in a row since the Michigan disaster and the Virginia Tech near miss. There’s a lot of momentum inside the team itself, even if pollsters are barely paying attention.
Today can be a day of reckoning for Notre Dame despite Stanford’s 4-7 record. Regardless of circumstance, bad streaks have to come to an end to keep moving forward. There is going to be some rain and some wind today in Palo Alto, so death by aerial fire is less likely than the good old ax chopping that is needed in these situations.
The weather report reads:
“Becoming very windy; a morning shower, then rain; strong winds can down trees and power lines.”
Fuck a tree. Tear it down any way you can.
