Welcome to another Bagpipe Monday on OFD! Friends, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 9-2 after beating up on the Boston College Eagles. Now they head to Palo Alto to take on the Stanford Cardinal and try to end their regular season with 10 wins.
For the first time since 2016 and only the second time since 2009, Notre Dame will face an unranked Cardinal football team. That’s pretty outstanding, and it’s one of many reasons why I firmly put a stamp of “RIVALRY” on this game last season.
I’m not going to go into it all on this post, but there are many valid reasons why Notre Dame and Stanford are a true rival — even if it is something of a newer kind of rivalry. There will be much more on that this week on OFD, and of course, we welcome the discussion and the debate.
Before we get to all of that, I want to know how you feel. Basically... do you even care? Outside of the rivalry discussion, is this a game that you care about and look forward to this season — and/or every season?

I have no strong feeling either way.
This game offers no real value or consequence to the college football landscape this season. Stanford is 4-7, and Notre Dame needs a real miracle to get in a bowl better than the Camping World Bowl.It matters a great deal to Brian Kelly and the rest of the Notre Dame football team — but does it matter to you?
Enjoy the pipes!
