Notre Dame ranked #16 by the college football playoff committee for second week in a row

Not good.

If you were holding out hope for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to position themselves to get a bid to play in the Cotton Bowl — the latest college football playoff rankings should all but extinguish those feelings.

For the second week in a row, the college football playoff committee has ranked the Irish at the #16 team in the country.

It’s a weird formula — basically because there is no real formula. It’s also a weird season where there are quite a few teams on their way to a 10 win season, so that loss to the Michigan Wolverines still haunts Notre Dame like the worst poltergeist known to man.

Just a quick look at the top 10 and you have to wonder... where in the hell are the resume wins? Georgia might have the best resume regardless of their loss to South Carolina, and then you look at Clemson and Ohio State and wonder... who did they beat? It’s not just one school — there are quite a few with “less than schedules” here.

So... get yourself prepared for the Camping World Bowl and whatever Big 12 opponent they throw our way.
