Notre Dame Football: Betting Lines for USC Game Plus Championship Odds

Irish are double-digit favorites at home.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 11 point favorites over the USC Trojans when the greatest intersectional rivalry in college football continues Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium.

The over/under — or “the predicted number of points oddsmakers believe will be scored in the game by both teams combined” — is 57 1⁄2 points. That, combined with the line, suggests a 34-23 Irish victory.

The OddsShark computer is forecasting a more lopsided victory, with the Irish prevailing 42-21. If they were reality, bettors holding slips for Notre Dame to win or to cover would cash, as would bettors who picked the over.

  • The Irish are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight October games.
  • USC is 6-14 against the spread in its last 20 games and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games. The Trojans are also 1-4 against the spread in their last five games played at Notre Dame Stadium.

The Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas still likes the same five players as favorites to take home the Heisman Trophy in December: Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama Crimson Tide, 5-to-8 odds); Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma Sooners, 7-to-2 odds); Joe Burrow (LSU Tigers, 7-to-2 odds); Justin Fields (Ohio State Buckeyes, 14-to-1 odds); and Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin Badgers, 20-to-1 odds).

Ian Book’s five touchdown performance helped his odds improve from 500-to-1 to 300-to-1, but that still implies a probability of just 0.33 percent tht the Irish quarterback will be named college football’s best player.
