The Notre Dame Fighting Irish cruised in their Saturday’s matchup against an undermanned Bowling Green Falcons team, almost unifying Irish fans in their confidence of the football program’s direction.

A new SB Nation FanPulse poll, released today, found that 95.2 percent of self-identified Notre Dame fans believe their program is heading in the right direction. That’s up 1.4 percent among the same pool of respondents who answered the survey after the Irish’s Sept. 28 win against Virginia. (You can sign up here to add your opinion starting Saturday evening.*)

Even though program confidence is slightly up, Irish fans collectively kept their favorite team at No. 9 for the third consecutive week.

In the national poll — which encompasses our fans, supporters of 49 other Power 5 teams and those who root for Group of 5 squads — the Irish improved one spot, from No. 10 to No. 9, following the blowout. Two former Notre Dame opponents — the Georgia Bulldogs and Virginia Cavaliers — moved down, while the Michigan Wolverines — a future opponent — moved up.

Here’s how Irish fans differed with the national audience:

This week, 8.3 percent of FanPulse respondents said the Irish’s upcoming game with the USC Trojans was their most anticipated of the Columbus Day weekend.
