Brian Kelly headed back to the Irish Indoor Athletics Center to drop some names, give some props and address this weekend’s matchup against the Bowling Green State University Falcons.
Ian Book
Book started last week’s game against Virginia ready to take risks. “Judge Book” called the shots with confidence, but his accuracy waned over four quarters. Kelly acknowledged Book’s frustration with his game, but is confident his play will improve. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish coach said Book needs to “be a little bit more patient“ and thrives on “continuity and trust… that’s gonna come.”
Shaun Crawford
Kelly praised the Irish CB’s fortitude through injury in tonight’s radio segment. Coach Kelly joked Crawford is “running out of body parts to break” but applauded his “mental toughness,” and said “ Short of losing a limb, he’s gonna be back out on that field.”
Taking on the Bowling Green Falcons
The Irish are the favorites heading into this weekend’s game. However, the matchup is no night to slack off; the game pits Kelly against former Irish defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder. However, Kelly clarified VanGorder’s knowledge of the Irish defensive style won’t get in the way of the Irish execution this weekend. Kelly said for his team, it’s all about playing “the kind of football we’re capable of” and “doing the little things the right way.”
