Notre Dame Fans Believe The Irish Should Be Ranked Higher Than Georgia

It’s zero surprise that Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans are bullish on their team after a 5-1 start.

What may be mildly astonishing is that, in a new FanPulse poll, Irish supporters collectively place their team two spots higher than the Georgia Bulldogs, who beat the Irish Sept. 21.

The weekly snapshot also reported that 92.4 percent fans who self-identified as rooting for Notre Dame are confident in the direction of their team. That’s down 2.8 percent from the Oct. 6 poll. (You can sign up here to add your opinion starting Saturday evening.*)

Even though program confidence has slightly decreased, Irish fans jumped their team up two spots this week to No. 7.

In the national poll — which encompasses our fans, supporters of 49 other Power 5 teams and those who root for Group of 5 squads — the Irish dropped one spot from last week’s poll. SB Nation readers are now higher on the Auburn Tigers and Penn State Nittany Lions than they are the Irish, which is a change from last week.
