Does Clemson’s thrashing of Alabama for the National Title change your view of Notre Dame?

Is there some transitive vindication in the air?

The Clemson Tigers just beat down the Alabama Crimson Tide 44-16 for the national championship. It was brutally beautiful in just about every way possible. For fans of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, there was a collective sigh of relief.

Ever since the 2012 loss to Bama (and longer still) fans and media have absolutely shit all over Notre Dame for getting rolled 42-14. It was so bad that people even tried to use THAT game as a reason the Irish shouldn’t have been in the college football playoff THIS season. To make matters worse, the Irish got torched by Clemson in the second quarter (without Julian Love on the field) on route to a 30-3 loss.

But then... but then this title game happened. Every Irish fan watching just threw back every negative utterance said about Notre Dame after the loss to Clemson, and put it out in the faces of the rest of the world.

There was some kind of strange vindication in all of this. I’m not much for moral victories (especially in games that don’t involve Notre Dame) but this felt different — I feel different. It shouldn’t surprise me that HOT TAKES around the country about Notre Dame are probably wrong, but I am a little shook nonetheless.

I feel better about the 2018 season, but still realize that there is still a long way to go for Notre Dame to get to that kind of level.

Just thought I share those quick thoughts. What do you think?
