Mel Kiper’s Big Board for the 2019 NFL Draft is not kind to Notre Dame football players

Dexter Williams isn’t a top 10 running back?

NCAA Football: Stanford at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish aren’t very well represented in Mel Kiper’s initial Big Board for the 2019 NFL Draft. Kiper’s Big Board consists of his top 10 at each position, and it signals the beginning of Draft season.

So which Irish player made Melly Mel’s cut?

  • Jerry Tillery as the #7 DT
  • Te’von Coney as the #5 ILB
  • Julian Love as the #4 CB
  • Tyler Newsome as the #2 P/K

And that’s it. That’s the list.

Who doesn’t appear in Mel’s Top 10 at their position?

  • Sam Mustipher C
  • Drue Tranquill LB
  • Alex Bars G
  • Justin Yoon K
  • Alize Mack TE
  • Miles Boykin WR
  • Dexter Williams RB

So what’s next?

Obviously there are more rankings and more Mock Drafts out there right now. People can’t get enough of LISTS ON LIST ON LISTS. The NFL Scouting Combine is still a little over a month away, and until then, we really won’t see the players in each position group start to separate and distinguish themselves against the rest.

Any first rounders in there?

If you couldn’t tell by the player rankings per their position group — Notre Dame has no player that can be designated as a likely first round pick.
