Don’t let anybody tell you it’s too early to think about next season, Irish fans. Coming off a run to the College Football Playoff, Notre Dame will return several big names to the 2019 team, one of the most important being rising senior quarterback Ian Book.
BetOnline.AG sports book released Heisman lines for the 2019 season earlier this week. Book was listed as +1600 (16/1 odds) to win the award.

The early favorite to win the award is Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence at 3/1, followed by Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa at 4/1, and newly transferred Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts at 9/1.
Book went 197-280 for 19 TDs passing in 2018. He also ran 78 times for 250 yards with four rushing TDs. He finished sixth nationally with a 70.4 completion percentage and eighth in pass efficiency.
In a perfect world where Book does win the Heisman next season, the El Dorado Hills, California product would be the eighth Notre Dame player to win the award. The last Notre Dame player to win the award was Tim Brown in 1987. They can probably make room in the trophy case though.
There’s already an Ian Book Heisman shirt on the market, so that’s good enough reason for me to get my hopes up.
