Notre Dame Football: The ACC Is Treating Its Schedule Against The Irish Like They’re Bowl Games In 2019

The ACC released its football schedule for 2019, and if you’re the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, you’re feeling pretty special right now. Why is that? Because this year, the ACC feels that it needs as much practice time as it gets before facing Notre Dame.

Yes, you’re looking at that correctly. Notre Dame will play its usual 5 ACC games, and in 3 of those games, the Irish opponent will have a BYE week leading up to the game. In another game, the Irish will be the season opener.

While this does appear to be normal operating procedure for the ACC vs Notre Dame, only 5 games against the Irish since the deal in 2014 have seen the Irish opponent with a bye week leading up to the game.

I don’t know... 2019 seems like overkill to me.

Notre Dame is 18-7 in regular season ACC games since 2014. The last 2 years have seen Notre Dame produce a 9-1 record versus the ACC (that doesn’t include the loss to the Clemson Tigers in the college football playoff).
