The Notre Dame Fighting Irish defeated the Michigan Wolverines 24-17 over the weekend. With an extended weekend of college football now wrapped up, the latest AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll were released on Tuesday afternoon.
Notre Dame moved up to the #8 spot in both sets of rankings.
Previously, Notre Dame was ranked #12 in the AP Poll and #11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll prior to week one.

Florida State dropped out of the rankings after an embarrassing loss to Virginia Tech on Monday. Future Notre Dame opponents Virginia Tech, Stanford, Southern Cal, and Stanford all moved up in rankings as well. Michigan fell from the top 15 back into the low twenties in both polls following the loss to ND.
Notre Dame’s next game against a ranked team is against Stanford on September 29th. The Irish next take the field against the Ball State Cardinals on September 8th.
