Bagpipe Monday: Do We Need To Reset Notre Dame’s Expectations After The 24-17 Win Over Michigan?

Should we overreact a little bit? Is a little bit even possible?

Welcome to an UNDefeated Bagpipe Monday on One Foot Down! Friends, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish kicked the crap out of the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday night, and we are all feeling pretty damn good about it all.

Bagpipe Monday Notre Dame @phillykelly

So where you at with all of this?

I want to keep this short and tight, and rather than drop a soliloquy of my feelings about the subject in the hopes of winning a small handful of new disciples — I need to know how you feel right now.

PLEASE keep in mind the following:

  • Many stated that Michigan had the best defense in the country.
  • Shea Patterson was supposed to save Ann Arbor from her overbearing parents.
  • Week 1.
  • A couple of teams ranked ahead of Notre Dame lost.
  • A couple of teams ranked ahead of Notre Dame really struggled.

Look, I have no idea what every single reader of OFD predicted for the season. Maybe you went ALL in or maybe you were scheduling an extra visit or two for your shrink in November. Who knows?

What I do know is that the Irish won an impressive game this week with all the national eyeballs watching them — enhanced by ESPN’s College Gameday. It seems like things went pretty well. It seems like Notre Dame could become a major player.

Overreacting? Probably, but with the Ball State Cardinals, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons up next, the Irish should/could be 4-0 with the Stanford Cardinal coming to town.

I’m in reset mode.
